MUCC - black smoke |
] |
I just made a prettie blend and no one is online to show it to!! *snifu* ;_; I haven't been making too much lately, especially nothing that I actually liked, so I was happy. And now I can't show it off. So I'm gonna do what everyone else does and post it in my LJ!! WAAAIII!!
( [Tatsurou] : Ware, arubeki basho )
Yeah, I was having fun capping that PV and decided it deserved a blend. I hadn't watched it in forever. I was trying to find the lyrics to ware arubeki basho and ended up on some girls site, and she was listing her fave musicians and why and I was so happy cos most of them I agreed with, so I decided to do the same!!
VOCALISTS
1. Kyo [dir en grey]: of course!! But his voice is so powerful and full, but when he sings softer, he sounds like a child. And he has an amazing range...exactly HOW many octaves does he cover in the space of 3 seconds in Gyakoujou Tannou Keroido Milk?! And he sounds sexy when he growls.
2. Tatsurou [mucc]: He's got a powerful voice too, but in a different way. He does that vibratto thing and his voice is scratchy and raspy, and it breaks a lot and sometimes he sings a little flat, and it's just awesome. I've never heard anyone sing with such desperation in their voice. He always sounds on the verge of tears.
3. Gara [merii]: Ah, there's a strange little monkey!! He does the vibratto thing as well, and he has such amazing control over his voice, or at least he does when he's not covered in mud and naked, collapsed on the stage and convulsion. He also bears an amazing resemblance to Wembly the Fraggle.
4. TIE...
Yuki [ex-raphael/rice.]: You guessed it. The vibratto thing again. I think it's just a thing I have. Anyway, Yuki's voice has such a full, rich quality to it, he could sing opera if he wanted. Half of his songs sound like arias already.
Yomi [nightmare]: He's way too small to have a voice that deep. I didn't believe it at first. His voice is smooth, a tiny bit of that vibratto thing, but not too much, and cracks in all the right places. He can hit those high notes too. He also has the amazing talent to make the Japanese language sound even CUTER than it already was!!
5. Daishi [psycho le cemu]: There are so many great voices, it's so hard to choose my favorites, but I'd have to go with Daishi for #5, cos let's face it, anyone who can sound THAT good over a home karaoke system, taped with a little video camera, and played over my crappy compie speakers...has got talent. And he fought for Aya's honor. And that's cool. He shoulda kicked Yura's ass. I mean what was with that little blonde moustache anyway? Did anyone else think he looked like Robert Redford...in a creepy Yura sama kind of way?
And for those non-Japanese music listeners (*gasp* shame on you!!) as far as English music goes, my list would be:
1. Taylor Hanson [Hanson] 2. Elvis Costello 3. Billy Corgen [ex-Smashing Pumpkins] 4. Alex Band [the calling] 5. Derek Dunivan [ex-Pure Rubbish]
GUITARISTS
1. Kaoru [dir en grey]: That's pretty much a given, I think he's most people's fave guitarist, or second after Hide. Or at least in the top 5. Although Die DOES play all my personal fave solos. I guess it' a toss up, depending on my mood.
2. Miyavi [ex-due'le quartz, solo]: Okay, I had a hard time with who I liked more, Miyavi or Miya, so I had to go by personality as well, and superhyperspastic won out over quiet-creepy. Miyavi doesn't always get the credit he deserves for his amazing guitar playing prowess, mostly cos he's just so FUCKING GORGEOUS and some people can't get past that. But he's really amazing to watch. And you know what else is amazing is that he can play a whole song with an attention span the size of a gnat. Well, he doesn't always, sometimes he wanders off. Ooh look, shiny!!
3. Miya [mucc]: Usually in a band with only one guitarist, you can hear the gap missing from the rhythm guitar. Or at least I can. But when I first started listening to MUCC, I coulda sworn there were two guitars. At least. Miya puts out an amazing amount of music with his instrument. And he's quiet-creepy, and I dunno where he goes while he's playing on stage, but lemme tell you, it's not planet earth!!
4. You [janne da arc]: Is Janne da arc rock or pop? Sometimes I can't tell. Not that it matters. What amazes me about You is that he manages to play well even with Yasu in his face all the time. I really think You is too good to be in a band like Jda, and I've heard a lot of people agree with me.
5. Lucy [ex-silver ash/guo tie jun]: Okay, before you hit me, I know he's not Japanese, but hey...Chinese boys can play guitar too!! The Second Movement blows me away everytime. It's not just technical, he plays with emotion.
BASSISTS
1. Toshiya [dir en grey]: I'm not being biased!! There's a reason diru is my fave band, all 5 of them are so talented, it makes me want to cry. And Totchi plays some complex basslines. And he makes it look so easy. I'll bet he's sick of playing Cage though XD
2. Yukke [mucc]: Between Yukke and Miya, they make enough sound to cover three times as many musicians. I'd like to see Yukke and Toshiya play together sometime. Tatsu is quite the little social butterfly, he could swing a deal. That could be fun. It'd be like goth-princess-turned-mafia-boy meets moe/dennis the menace.
3. Lay [fatima]: Again...talent in the face of a psychotic vocalist. Any band that plays a lot of 1940s inspired wartime/boogie woogie/swing/shuffles (I've heard that style called all of those, and more...think Andrew Sisters 'Boogie Woogie Trumpet Boy") has GOT to have a great bassist, and Fatima plays a lot of that style. And Lay keeps up damn good.
4. Seek [psycho le cemu]: Currently staring in the role of Psycho Humpty Dumpty, all hail the great Seek. Why Seek? Listen to Excaliber sometime, that's one of my favorite basslines. The guitar however...is just bizarre. Random Spanish bullfight music right in the center of the song? I swear they picked the perfect name for the band.
5. Zero [+d'espairsray+]: Zero's basslines are really heavy (which makes sense, considering the band), but I like the relentlessness. Listening to Zero play is like getting hit by a steamroller.
DRUMMERS
1. Shinya [dir en grey]: You cannot take caps of this boy playing, it's just a blur of sticks and hair. You wouldn't think someone so tiny could play like that. His little pocky-stick arms look like they'd just snap right off. I swear they're barely bigger than his drumsticks. He's just full of surprises. And he never sweats.
2. Ruka [nightmare]: He just plays so effortlessly. He's great to listen to, and even better to watch.
3. Towa [fatima]: Well after about 15 gaziilion drummers, Fatima finally got a keeper. Towa looks like a startled ShiTzu, but he plays his drums with such...glee. That's the only word for it!! Glee!! Of course, I'd be pretty gleeful too if I got to stare at the back of Sanaka all concert long.
4. Hiro [ex-raphael/rice.]: Now that it's just him and Yuki, Hiro's drumming carries a lot more weight in their music than it did before. And he lives up to the challenge. Plus he gets points for being Yuki's partner in crime.
5. Satochi [mucc]: Aw, you didn't think I'd leave him out, did you? I think he tends to get overlooked just for the fact that everyone else in the band is so awesome, the drummer sometimes gets pushed into the shadows. And sometimes Satochi just stands in the shadows anyway. I think he's scared of Tatsu and Yukke. But then again, who isn't?
Wow, that was a lot of typing. But fun. Definately. I love talking about music and I don't put any personal stuff in my LJ anyway. And I think this makes up for my lack of updates for the past...I dunno how long. Now I can sink back into oblivion for another few weeks.
Away.
